~~With gold roots in Savannah, Girl Scouting has grown for 100 years with silver branches reaching to the future. Spreading all across the country, Girl Scouts has inspired girls to always make new friends but keep the old. On this tree, each leaf represents a year, and infinite stars representing the years to come. The circle has no end. That's how long I want to be a Girl Scout.~~
The Girl Scouts of Maine had a contest over the summer for a tee design for the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts in America. My design won, and is now available at the Girl Scout stores in Portland and Augusta, Maine. (Unfortunately it doesn't look as cool as this one; they printed it on white shirts in black and green ink, no gradients. That version is here: [link] )
History: 100 years ago, in 1912, Juliette Gordon Low held the very first Girl Scout meeting in Savannah, Georgia. Symbols: The bottom trefoil is the original symbol for Girl Scouting in America, used from 1912 to 1976. The top trefoil is the modern symbol for Girl Scouting in America, used from 2010 to present.
Edit March 13th '12: THIS DESIGN IS FOR SALE AS A T-SHIRT!!! Buy it here: [link]
I am a Girl Scout!!! I never got to go to that event due to where I live, Maine is just too far away!!! This does represent that Girl Scouts are like trees. They/we will last long!
no problem my grandma was a girl scout leader up until she got sick and passed. I know she would love this. It even fits one of her favorite songs to teach the girls : the "make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold, a ring is round but has no end, that's how long i want to be your friend" You did a really good job
