Ok, so in High School, I drew a personification of what I wanted to be at that moment. And she was a confident, popular, mysterious and in lots of other ways a very cliche OC. The idea came from the comic 'Rose is Rose' if you've ever read it. You know when Rose becomes a biker chick? Yeah, this was my version of that. Anyway, I named her 'Akili', and thus my alter ego was born. She would always change, sometimes taking the form of a 5-year-old, sometimes being a sorceress, or something even stranger like a dragon or a fox. You would always recognize her by her hair and her eyes (or equivalent there of). Up until now, she had blonde hair with blue fringe ('bangs' to my fellow Americans). Lately I've been feeling boxed in by that rule, so I've decided to change it.
Now my alter ego is based on a wig I bought at my first con, which is great because now I can literally be her whenever I want just by putting on the wig. If you'd like to see it, you can find a pic of me wearing it here: [link]

She is not real. She is in White Light's imagination. So, sometimes this pony will be a unicorn, and sometimes she'll be a pegasus, sometimes an alicorn (I know, -gag-), and rarely she'll be a dragon or gryffon. She will always be what I wish I was, because I will always on the surface be the earth pony in my current journal skin. Also seen here: [link]

She is a blank flank for now until I figure out her talent. lol She might be a blank flank forever! That, or her cutie mark will always change, you know, being what I wish I was at that particular moment.

Not even sure what her name should be. Any suggestions? I'm thinking something with "Wish" or Wishes"...

I mentioned this in your CM piece, but I'll say it here too.

One name I thought for her was North Star, as it is one of the brightest stars in the night sky and was sometimes used for navigational purposes. That aspect could be interpreted as guiding one to their dreams and wishes.

I also thought of Wishing Star, but that's rather generic

Why not just Persona? It sounds like a name all its own and it really fits your character's abilities and personality. I know the feeling. Right now I'm still trying to find a good back story/origin for my character. The thing is that he is a pegasus pony but was born an earth pony, so his first instincts are to run really fast. But the main thing I'm trying to work with is this concept where at some point in his life a unicorn horn starts extending and retracting from his forehead (sort of like Wolverine's claws), thus technically making him an alicorn (which I'm guessing is the MLP fan equivalent of having an overpowered Sonic fan character), but he has really limited magic. His talents would be his artistic skills as well as skills with a sword, and his main personality attribute (I was going to say "element" or "symbol", but then I would have to make up a whole "7th Element of Harmony" thing and there is NO WAY I'm crossing THAT line) would be his chivalry or nobleness (I almost goofed up and said "nobility", he's just a regular class pony like everyone else). With the unicorn horn he would only be able to have direct manipulation with his sword or any other weapon, but that's it. Otherwise he just uses his sword with his teeth. He's also a good flyer but is a much more fast and capable runner...

Sorry, I almost forgot what I started this comment for.

I think Persona would be a very fitting name for your character, and maybe a masquerade mask for her cutie mark? The idea mostly came from NiGHTS where she gets to wear masks called "persona" that allow her to transform into various things, so that idea kind of works too. I hope it sounds good.

I like the name Persona; it would fit, since personas tend to change and they can be whatever you imagine.

Maybe she could be could Sona, or Sonia (some version of that) for short.
